If you know what it means to have a vegan diet, and your diet is, at least at home, 100% vegan, then this house might be the place for you. Otherwise, this will not be a match. We encourage everyone to explore, embrace, and benefit from the important health, environmental, and compassion aspects of veganism. You can learn more by visiting http://www.vegansociety.com/.

The house has three-bedrooms and sits in a quiet neighborhood. It features beautiful hardwood floors, lots of light, a large deck, pleasant back yard, a newly-remodeled bathroom, new and energy-efficient washer/dryer, clothesline, central AC, gas range, and street parking.
The kitchen here is 100% vegan, meaning that animal-based food items are not permitted in the house.
Vegan Food Delivery: We have Zpizza, Thai restaurants, and maybe others, who deliver.
The house is immediately off Duke Street, about halfway between King Street Metro and Landmark Mall.
Walking Distance: You can live here without owning a car. Giant and Harris Teeter supermarkets, CVS and Rite-Aid pharmacies, ethnic groceries, several banks, and many restaurants and shops are within a fifteen-minute walk. West End Farmers Market is nearby, as well as Alexandria's Beatley Central Library, some walking and biking trails, parks, and some nice routes for urban hikes. In a little over half an hour, you can walk to King Street Metro, Whole Foods, and Zipcars.
Public Tranportation: The house is convenient to Duke Street's frequent bus service, which connects to King Street Metro (blue and yellow lines). Also, a short bus ride takes you to Whole Foods, Zipcars, and an infinite number of shops in Landmark and Old Town.
Driving: It's a short drive to major arteries including North Quaker Lane, South Van Dorn Street, Telegraph Road, 395, and 495. Drive ten minutes or less to Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, King Street Metro, Old Town Alexandria, and Landmark.
Companion Animals: We are flexible. For example, if you have allergies or other issues related to companion animals, we can commit to staying with the current situation of no companion animals. On the other hand, we might be able to make a commitment to accommodating a companion animal depending on size, behavior, and other factors. Your inquiry is welcome if you have either preference or no preference.
The actual cost of utilities are split evenly among the housemates (internet, land line, cable TV, electric, and gas [heat, hot water, cooking]). Total might be around $50-60 per month on average.
Upbeat personalities would fit in well. The philosophy here is to be both exceptionally considerate and exceptionally tolerant.
We thoroughly screen all candidates, including credit check and personal/professional reference checks. This ensures that each housemate is a considerate and responsible person.
